MTTC Michigan Speech Test Learning Guide

MTTC Speech Test is the multiple choice question built assessment which pacts with the matters of communication and language skills. This test is intended in the way as to measure the candidate’s logic for the subject and field. Candidate, who passes Michigan Test for Teacher Certification Speech Test, acquires the certification to exercise as a Speech Educator in Michigan State.

Qualifications for MTTC Michigan Speech Test

To perform in this assessment candidate should meet all admissibility conditions of the Michigan Education Board. Candidate should be a bachelor degree holder from state or national university. Candidate should also have specialization in the subject from state approved college. For the candidates who are from out of Michigan should have three years of teaching experience in the field. If the candidate fulfills these requirements then he is eligible to appear in MTTC Speech Test. Candidate should get passing scores in MTTC Speech Test to get liable for the certification.

Examination Format

Each question in MTTC Speech Test has four options. Evaluation of MTTC Speech Test is done on the scale of 300, out of which 220 are the minimum marks required to get the certification. Candidate can reappear in the exam if the candidate falls short of the marks. While attempting MTTC Speech Test candidate should answer each question as there is no negative marking for wrong answers. Candidate needs to appear for MTTC Basic Skills Exam also. This exam checks the candidate’s capability in three functional areas – reading, writing and mathematics. There are 85 multiple choice and one subjective question in the exam. Total duration for completing the exam is four and one and a half hour.

Examination Syllabus

Syllabus of MTTC Speech Test includes the following topics:

•   Theatre interpretation – techniques, principles of performances etc. - 15%

•   Mass communication – messages, media literacy, film production etc. – 19%

•   Public speaking – this include various situations of public speaking and speeches and debates etc. – 16%

•   Interpersonal communication – theories, personal and characteristics of interpersonal communication, decision making, strategies and skills etc. – 16%

•   Language skills – oral and written communication, speech, communication process etc. – 15%
